About
Verse Music School
Our story
Built for the way people actually live.
Kayla McGuinn started playing piano at three.
By fourteen she was teaching. By the time she graduated from the University of Georgia, she had two degrees and one question she could not let go.
Half of all kids take music lessons, so why do so few adults actually know how to play?
The math didn't add up. The traditional system was failing because it felt like a chore, not a creative outlet. It taught kids how to follow instructions. But it never actually engaged them. And without engagement, no one sticks with it.
She started teaching from her home. East Atlanta was the perfect place to build the alternative. A neighborhood full of creative families. Full of kids ready to actually understand the music they listen to. Full of adults who always regretted quitting.
So she built Verse. Not a franchise. Not a chain. A music school that actually belongs here. And everywhere else, too. The virtual program was always part of the plan. Because a great teacher should not depend on your zip code.
Our mission
Verse exists to make music education feel like it belongs to you.
Music changes people.
We have seen it. A shy seven-year-old finds her voice. A teenager realizes he can make the music in his head. An adult discovers something she wishes she had started years ago.
Verse is where that happens. For every age. Every stage. Every ambition.
What we believe
The right teacher changes everything.
Not the right curriculum. Not the right method. The right teacher. The one who sees your child and actually gets them. We find that person for every student.
Skill is built alone. Community makes it matter.
Recitals. Jams. Workshops. Shared milestones. Verse is a gathering place, not just a lesson provider.
Real life does not wait.
In-person when you want it. Virtual when you need it. Verse works around your family. Not the other way around.
Where we are
East Atlanta. And everywhere.
Our studio is in East Atlanta.
Kayla is here. And when we built Verse, we built it for here first. A real neighborhood school with real roots.
Then we built it for everywhere else, too. Same teachers. Same quality. Anywhere in the country.
Rooted in Atlanta. Open to everyone.

Kayla McGuinn started at the piano at three.
She was teaching by fourteen. Composing professionally by twenty.
At the University of Georgia she studied Music and Computer Science because she thinks in both.
Her first love is scoring film. Her second is watching a student play their first full song.
She built Verse because she knew what the right teacher could do. She wanted every student to have that.
